| Petra is an eye-catching beadwork necklace done in earthy colors and
features a unique stone cabochon
(though I don't know what kind of stone). A cabochon is usually made of some type of stone, precious or otherwise, with a domed top
and a flat back. I use only beadwork to hold the cabochon in place. The necklace part is a peyote stitch tube, with a loop at one end and a bar at the other to form the toggle clasp. The bar is also a peyote stitch tube and is embellished with charlotte beads. Charlottes are tiny glass beads that have one facet cut into them. |
| Made with size 11 seed beads in brick red and various browns, charlottes in eggshell, other glass beads, and a stone cabochon. |
| Techniques include flat and tubular peyote stitch, fringe, and embellishment. |
| The strap measures 17&1/2". The centerpiece measures 3&1/2" from top to bottom. (All measurements are approximate.) |
