petra

Petra is an eye-catching beadwork necklace done in earthy colors and features a unique stone cabochon (though I don't know what kind of stone). A cabochon is usually made of some type of stone, precious or otherwise, with a domed top and a flat back. I use only beadwork to hold the cabochon in place.

The necklace part is a peyote stitch tube, with a loop at one end and a bar at the other to form the toggle clasp. The bar is also a peyote stitch tube and is embellished with charlotte beads. Charlottes are tiny glass beads that have one facet cut into them.
Made with size 11 seed beads in brick red and various browns, charlottes in eggshell, other glass beads, and a stone cabochon.
Techniques include flat and tubular peyote stitch, fringe, and embellishment.
The strap measures 17&1/2". The centerpiece measures 3&1/2" from top to bottom. (All measurements are approximate.)
